BASF honored at Canada’s Safest Employers Awards
- These recognitions, granted by Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, acknowledge employers in key industries across Canada for their achievements, leadership and innovation in health and safety

Mississauga, Canada, October 23rd, 2020 – BASF Canada has been recognized for the second consecutive year as the CIAC’s Gold Medal winner for Canada’s Safest Employers in the Chemical Division.
Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, media outlet behind the leading independent awards event for the nation’s occupational health and safety profession, has recognized BASF Canada for its achievements, leadership and innovation in the health and safety space.
BASF Canada was recognized at a virtual gala event held on October 22nd, 2020, as Canada’s Safest Chemistry Employer and in the Rising Star of the Year categories.
The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada Award For Canada’s Safest Chemistry Employer
This award, sponsored by The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC), is designed to recognise an employer within the chemistry industry that has an exemplary health and safety record.

Rising Star of the Year Category
Erika Harris, EHS and Responsible Care Specialist, BASF Canada has received the Rising Star of the Year award that recognizes safety leaders of the future with a demonstrated commitment to the function.
“I am very humbled to receive this award” said Erika Harris. “The COVID-19 pandemic is creating unique challenges, but it has also put the importance of safety on the spotlight and created opportunities for us to step up to protect our employees and communities”.
