Electromagnetic shielding
Due to their weight savings, ease of processing and versatility, plastic housings increasingly replace metal housings in automobiles. The problem, however, is that electromagnetic radiation can pass through an uncoated housing and affect the internal electronics. Likewise, the electronics in the housing can affect the surrounding electronics. Because of the material, this problem is not given in a metal case. The plastic housing made of Ultramid® must therefore be coated with metal so that it can convince with the same electromagnetic shielding properties and yet convince with the above-mentioned Advantages.
