Stefan Beck is new CIO of BASF, Wiebe van der Horst leads project to implement new IT architecture

Ludwigshafen, Germany – December 6, 2017 – Stefan Beck is the new Senior Vice President, Global Process / Enterprise Architecture & Region Europe, at BASF and the new Chief Information Officer (CIO). He succeeds Wiebe van der Horst who has been leading the “New Generation Business Architecture” project since October 1, 2017. Beck and van der Horst report to Dr. Christoph Wegner who is the head of Supply Chain Operations & Information Services at BASF.

Stefan Beck holds a diploma in computer science and software engineering from the University of Technology in Berlin, Germany. Prior to joining BASF in 2003, he worked in IT consulting including in Iran, Korea, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen. After various roles at BASF in Switzerland, Malaysia and Singapore, he was Senior Vice President, Global Business Relationship Management & Region Europe from 2013 to 2017.

Wiebe van der Horst holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Management from the University of Basel, Switzerland. Before joining BASF in 2008, van der Horst was a senior executive at CIBA Specialty Chemicals, Novartis und Ciba-Geigy in Switzerland for over 20 years. After several roles at BASF in Switzerland, he became Vice President, Supply Chain & Process Innovation in Ludwigshafen. From 2013 to 2017, he was Senior Vice President, Global Process & Enterprise Architecture.
