BASF expands and relocates Electronic Materials R&D Center Asia Pacific to Ansan, South Korea
- New three-story facility at BASF’s Ansan site scheduled to open by the second half of 2024
- Center to be an additional key location for global semiconductor R&D
Seoul, South Korea – August 24, 2023 – BASF has announced plans to relocate its Electronic Materials Research and Development (R&D) Center from Suwon to the company’s Ansan site in South Korea to enhance its research and development efficiency. On August 23, the company held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction.
The new R&D center, which will be larger than the previous Suwon facility, will focus on fostering innovative growth and R&D by working closely with domestic and global customers, especially in the field of the semiconductor materials. In addition to the Electronic Materials R&D Center, the three-story facility will include a warehouse for products produced at the Ansan site. The new building is scheduled to open by the second half of 2024.
Through this relocation, BASF’s Ansan site will become an important hub for engineering plastics production and R&D since it is already home to the Engineering Plastics Innovation Center (EPIC) Korea and the Consumer Electronics Competency Center (CECC), which opened in November 2021.
