BASF Kids' Lab celebrates 15 years of interactive chemistry education program for children in Thailand
- Free chemistry education program led by BASF employee volunteers and university students
- Safe, hands-on experiments with water help children learn about healthy diets and the chemistry of food
Bangkok, Thailand – August 23, 2018 – BASF will bring fun and interactive experiments to children in Bangkok with its interactive science program, BASF Kids’ Lab. This annual program is taking place as a part of Science Week at the King’s Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL). The program will be led and facilitated by trained BASF employee volunteers and chemistry students from KMITL from August 23 – 24, 2018.
“In line with BASF’s corporate citizenship strategy, we aim to create sustainable impact with our educational activities. Kids’ Lab will provide an opportunity for primary students to learn about foods and dietary components and how to select and enjoy healthy food. Children can put their natural research instincts into practice, and acquire skills in the scientific method,” said Petrus Ng, BASF’s Managing Director of Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.
Through the Clever Foodies experiment, children will learn how good food can contribute to a healthy lifestyle. With the use of hands-on exploration, the program helps children investigate the substances contained in foods and beverages, and to understand the benefits of eating a colorful range of vegetables and fruit.
Online, at “Virtual Kids’ Lab”, children can learn more about enzymatic degradation as well as various nutrients contained in food through “The Sweet Bread” experiment. This BASF online platform offers children the chance to be a scientist at home. Under the expert guidance of the Kids’ Lab’s mascot, Dr. Bubbles, children can learn how chemistry helps our daily life through an array of interesting experiments including “The Green Wonder”, “The Bubbling Refreshment”, “The Foaming Beads”, “Chemistry Lab Bakery”, “Energy from the Sun”, “Cleaning Dirty Water”, “Looking for the Sender”, and “The Red Stain Devil”.
