Stephan Kothrade was born in 1967 in Landshut, Germany. He has a doctorate in Organic Chemistry from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich.

He is responsible for BASF’s global businesses in Monomers, Performance Materials, Petrochemicals, and Intermediates. Furthermore, he oversees the region Europe, the startup trinamiX, and the BASF Corporate Sustainability Board.
