BASF Virtual Lab offers three additional experiments in Vietnamese to primary students
- Program aimed at sparking interest in natural sciences among Vietnam’s next generation
- Total of 10 online local language experiments to help kids learn about chemistry anytime, anywhere
- Donated 20 computers to Tân Hưng Primary School to help over 700 students gain access to technology
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – February 23, 2022 – BASF introduced three additional chemistry experiments in Vietnamese in its BASF Virtual Lab (http://thinghiemvui.basf.com), an online platform that allows children to do a variety of interactive chemistry experiments. In total, 10 virtual experiments have now been offered to Vietnamese primary students. In partnership with Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, BASF hosted a training workshop for teachers and students from Tân Hưng Primary School, District 7, to help them familiarize with fascinating experiments and learn what chemistry means to their daily lives. The company also donated 20 computer sets helping the teachers and more than 700 students gain access to computer science and technology.
The three newly launched experiments include ‘Plastic Pros’, ‘Sweet Bread’, and ‘Rust protection for food’. Through the “Plastic Pro” experiment, children will learn about the different properties of plastics and how it can be used to separate plastic waste, one of the major steps in the recycling process. They will also learn about the benefits of plastics in our life and why responsible use of plastics matters.
The “Sweet Bread” experiment will help children learn about enzymatic degradation as well as various nutrients contained in our daily food. Finally, the "Rust protection for food” explains how the ascorbic acid or vitamin C, a popular substance contained in our daily fruits and vegetables, can help preserve food and keep people healthy, owing to its antioxidant properties.

BASF Virtual Lab, an extension of BASF’s global hands-on chemistry education program Kids’ Lab, provides a wide range of interactive experiments online. Children can experience the joy of chemistry anytime and anywhere by playing the role of a researcher and conducting experiments in the virtual world of a laboratory. Each step of every experiment contains easy-to-understand explanations from the animated Kids’ Lab mascot Dr. Bubbles. New experiments are continuously added. Apart from the three new experiments, other experiments that are already available in Vietnamese include “Looking for the sender”, “Chemistry Lab Bakery”, “Bubbling Refreshment”, “Water Purification”, “Red Stain Devil”, “Energy from the Sun” and “Foaming Beads”.
BASF Kids’ Lab is a global program that aims to develop children’s interests in natural sciences from an early age. In partnership with Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, BASF has implemented this annual program in Vietnam since 2011, attracting almost 5,000 primary students in the city.
