New, highly efficient termiticide from BASF sets new industry benchmark
- Termidor® HE will be available in Japan from November 24

Tokyo, Japan – November 15, 2017 - Termidor® HE, a new advanced termiticide with excellent residual effect from BASF, will be launched for use in Japan on November 24. Combining a highly effective active ingredient in a non-repellent formulation with advanced proprietary technology, Termidor HE prevents termites from infesting structural materials such as wood when applied to the foundation soil of homes and commercial buildings.
Termidor HE controls termites by disrupting their central nervous system using the active ingredient, fipronil. Together with BASF’s advanced polymer technology, which temporarily boosts the transport and even dispersion of the active ingredient into the soil, Termidor HE creates an enhanced protection zone beneath or around a building’s
foundation that effectively prevents keeps termites from entering the property.
With its non-repellent formulation, termites exposed to Termidor HE spread it to fellow termites in the colony through physical contact. This “Transfer Effect” takes advantage of the natural behavior of social insects, with the slow-acting active ingredient eradicating the entire colony.
Termidor HE is effective in controlling both the Japanese subterranean termite, which is found nationwide, and the Formosan subterranean termite, a common species prevalent in Western Japan. It has low vapor pressure and volatility and is free of regulated VOCs.
