Goals
We have set voluntary long-term global goals in the areas of economy, environment, safety, employees and society. Through these goals, sustainable development at BASF is transparent and verifiable.
The materiality analysis helps us recognize and assess sustainability issues: We examine our internal and external stakeholders’ expectations and requirements, along with issues that could represent opportunities or risks for our operations.
The notion of sustainability can only be effective if it is firmly integrated into organizational and management systems. We have created structures to promote sustainable business activities - from strategic planning to implementation.
Sustainable development has been defined as the balance of economic success, ecological protection and social responsibility. To manage sustainability, a company must able to measure or otherwise quantify sustainability in each of these pillars.
Society and our customers have been taking a greater interest in the business contribution to sustainability over the past decades. We are committed to understand these evolving expectations, so we might seize opportunities as well as minimize risks.
Responsible Care is a voluntary initiative of the chemical industry. The objective: continuous improvement in the areas of environmental protection, health and safety. BASF has established binding Responsible Care objectives for itself.
