Contributing to a Sustainable Future

When we talk about sustainability, we are looking at the entire value-chain from procurement (raw materials, energy) to after our products leave our plants. We create value for our customers with solutions that contribute to sustainability in the value chain. With our Circular Economy program, we aim to decouple growth from resource consumption. Circular solutions reduce waste, save fossil resources and help reduce CO2 emissions. Here are some of our sustainability stories that make an impact in Malaysia and beyond.

BASF Dispersions & Resins at Pasir Gudang validated by REDcert²

BASF Pasir Gudang site in Malaysia has achieved the REDcert² certificate following an independent third-party audit. With this certification, BASF will be able to offer our customers certified low CO₂ variant dispersions with identical product performance to the product grades now supplied from Pasir Gudang.

BASF’s additives solutions help to increase yields and save resources in pineapple plantations

BASF and 3T Industries Sdn Bhd, a leading recycling company in Malaysia dealing with post-industrial and post-consumer recyclates, are helping pineapple plantations in Malaysia to increase their yields and save resources. For the first time, 3T Industries has applied BASF’s IrgaCycle^TM UV033 DD to enhance 100% recycled high density polyethylene (HDPE) sheets used as protectors for pineapples.

BASF launched first Clearfield Training Center in Asia Pacific with MARDI and KBSM

Malaysian farmers and paddy planters can now increase their knowledge and learn the latest techniques for rice cultivation using the Clearfield^® Production System in more detail, with the establishment of Clearfield Training Center or Pusat Tani Clearfield (PTC).

The training center, the first of its kind in Asia Pacific, is a joint project between the Malaysian Agricultural Research & Development Institute (MARDI), Kilang Beras Seri Merbok Sdn. Bhd. (KBSM) and BASF (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.
