BASF to feature its Water Solutions business at WEFTEC 2012 which consolidates the company’s water treatment products and expertise

  • Company offers its innovative system solutions for drinking water, waste water and process water treatment
  • Focus on inge ultrafiltration membrane solutions also featured

Ludwigshafen, Germany, September 21, 2012. As a major contributor in the water treatment industry, BASF will present its innovative and sustainable water treatment solutions at their booth at WEFTEC 2012 under the theme “water loves solutions” (Booth No. 1157 in Hall B).

The Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) is the largest meeting of its kind in North America, and will take place from September 29 to October 3, 2012 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

BASF has expanded its commitment to the water industry by consolidating its broad range of water treatment products and expertise into a single entity. This change is designed to enhance the company’s market focus to better serve its customers and help them meet the world’s ever-growing need for clean water. With this change, BASF’s water treatment relevant chemistry and capabilities have come together in one strong industry focused platform within the Water Solutions business unit of BASF’s Performance Chemicals Division.

“This new water treatment platform is part of BASF’s commitment to ‘creating chemistry for a sustainable future.’ It allows us to connect our collective strengths as one company to better service the water treatment industry and apply our full range of competencies to this market.  By integrating our expertise, we will help enhance the long term success of our customers, who will continue to benefit from our experience in providing chemicals and will realize additional benefits through our dedication to innovation and sustainability,” said Linda Muroski, Business Director, Water Solutions North America.

BASF is a leader in the supply of organic coagulants and flocculants and is an important player in the water treatment chemicals market. By adding products such as antiscalents, defoamers, scale dissolvers and corrosion inhibitors, the new Water Solutions Platform will offer products and technical expertise for the three most important fields in the business of water treatment chemicals: municipal drinking/waste water treatment, industrial water treatment and seawater desalination.

Major contributor in the water treatment industry

At the BASF booth a large selection of innovative and sustainable system solutions for the wide range of uses awaits the visitor. BASF’s extensive range of established products, such as flocculants, coagulants, corrosion inhibitors, antiscalants, scale dissolvers, biocides, chelating agents and defoamers, provides customer-made solutions for the treatment of waste water, drinking water and industrial water. This year’s main focus at WEFTEC will be ultrafiltration technology, a field of activity that BASF is strengthening since the acquisition of inge GmbH in 2011.

Focus on ultrafiltration solutions from inge GmbH

The German company inge GmbH – widely regarded as the global leader in the field of ultrafiltration technology – wholly-owned by BASF and part of its Water Solutions business – features the highly-efficient and robust ultrafiltration membranes as well as the space-saving rack designs used to treat drinking water, process water, waste water and seawater. The extremely small-pore filters of the Multibore® membranes are designed to intercept not only particles, but also microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, thereby providing a dependable source of clean water.
