New head of BASF unit Pharma Ingredients & Services

  • Scott Thomson to head up global business unit
  • Headquarters to move to Florham Park, New Jersey
  • Stronger presence in one of the largest pharmaceuticals markets

Ludwigshafen, Germany – October 1, 2012 – As of October 1, Scott Thomson will assume the role of Senior Vice President in charge of BASF’s Pharma Ingredients & Services business unit. Simultaneously, the company will be relocating the global headquarters of the Pharma Ingredients & Services business unit from Evionnaz, Switzerland, to Florham Park, New Jersey.

“By moving the headquarters of our global business unit to the United States, we are strengthening our presence in one of the world’s largest and most innovative markets for pharma products. This will enable us to even better serve the needs and demands of our international customers in the future,” said Walter Dissinger, President of BASF’s Nutrition & Health division.

BASF produces and markets a broad range of active ingredients and excipients, as well as exclusive synthesis services for the pharmaceutical industry. These products are made to the highest quality standards, using the latest technologies, and in compliance with cGMP guidelines.

As of October 1, 2012, the global head of the unit, as well as three other worldwide management functions, will move from Switzerland to the United States. The move will take place in stages over a period of six months. The relocation will not affect the regional business and production units in Europe. That also applies to the production in Evionnaz.

Scott Thomson succeeds Martin Widmann, who will now head up the Fuel & Lubricant Solutions unit in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Until today, Thomson was Vice President Market & Customer Development North America at BASF Corporation in Florham Park, New Jersey.
