BASF at the EuroTier: Focus on Efficiency and Sustainability

  • Products, solutions, and concepts for efficient and more sustainable feed
  • Expert presentations in the technical program for pig, poultry, and cattle

Ludwigshafen, Germany - November 5, 2012 - At the EuroTier – Europe’s most important trade show for professional livestock farming, held in Hanover, Germany, from November 13-16, 2012 – BASF SE will present its extensive range of products, solutions, and concepts for efficient feed and a more sustainable production of food products of animal origin. BASF experts explain how feed producers and farmers can benefit from their offering in exhibition hall 16, booth 19E, as well as in various specialist presentations.

Sustainability as the Central Objective

BASF – as the leading supplier of feed additives – offers a wide product range for pigs, poultry and cattle, aqua cultures and pets. Vitamins, enzymes, organic acids, and other specialty products serve a single purpose – a more sustainable production of animal protein as an important building block of human nutrition. “It is our goal to make a valuable contribution to animal nutrition by helping to make it more efficient, more profitable, and more sustainable,” says Dr. Hans Müschen, Head of the Business Unit Animal Nutrition Europe, Africa, West Asia at BASF.

Focus on Feed Enzymes

Feed enzymes such as Natuphos® and Natugrain® help produce more animal protein while having to use less resources and lowering the environmental impact. On November 13, 2012, from 10:00-10:45 a.m., in exhibition hall 12, booth B 57, Dr. Dieter Feuerstein, BASF, will explain this topic as part of the technical program of the EuroTier in his presentation entitled “Using the effects of NSP-splitting enzymes in pig feeding.”

Organic Acids Protect the Feed

For decades, BASF’s organic acids such as Luprosil® and Amasil® have been used successfully by feed and animal producers for the preservation of feed and grains. Whether for grain preservation or ensilage of green fodder, with its organic acids and acid mixtures BASF offers practical solutions that maintain the feeding value and improve the microbiological quality of feed.

Feed Supplement Helps Cows after Calving

Silvia Schmid, BASF ChemTrade GmbH, will inform visitors on November 16, 2012, from 11:00-11:45 a.m., in exhibition hall 13, booth B37, what the use of Lutrell® Combi can do for dairy cows. The innovative BASF product allows for an easier start into the lactation phase. Overall this supplementary feed contributes to an economically sustainable milk production.

Carotenoids for Subtlest Color Nuances

BASF carotenoids such as Lucantin® and Lucarotin® are important feed ingredients for the pigmentation of egg yolks, broiler skin, salmon, and crustaceans. The BASF product portfolio includes special formulations, which make BASF one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of these nature-identical carotenoids.

Applied Sustainability in the Value-added Chain

SET – the BASF initiative for applied sustainability – helps feed and food producers to improve the sustainability of their products. SET enables the measurement of resource utilization and reveals optimization potential throughout the entire value- chain. On November 14, 2012, from 3:00-3:30 p.m., in exhibition hall 08, booth B05, Dr. Joachim Hüter, BASF SE, will illuminate the topic of sustainability in the poultry specialist forum with his presentation entitled “Producing poultry meat sustainably, ecologically, and efficiently.”
