BASF launches new website for sustainable construction

  • Creates fast access to solutions for durability, resource efficiency and climate protection
  • Shares sustainability practices with producers, contractors, applicators, developers and architects
  • Connects stakeholders to BASF construction experts around the world

Ludwigshafen, Germany – April 3, 2013– BASF has launched a new global construction website with a focus on sustainability (www.construction.basf.com), offering quick and easy access to essential information for the industry stakeholders. The website presents the company’s products and solutions in terms of challenges faced by the construction industry such as increasing durability, improving resource efficiency and climate protection. It also serves as a central platform to exchange ideas by sharing authentic stories from a variety of stakeholders.

“Sustainability is a crucial issue for the construction industry and chemistry plays an important role in designing innovations for sustainable construction,” said Dr. Tilman Krauch, President of BASF’s Construction Chemicals division and head of BASF’s Global Construction Steering Committee. “The website is a window to what we do especially in the area of sustainability. It is designed to inform, connect and equip our construction partners with easy-to-access information, knowledge and ideas,” explained Krauch.

The construction industry is one of BASF’s key customer industries, accounting for up to 10 percent of total Group sales. In accordance with the “We create chemistry” strategy, BASF is focusing its business even more strongly on customers’ needs and driving sustainable solutions.

Information structure designed for various needs

In addition to being informed about the industry trends and sustainability challenges, visitors to the new global construction website can discover stakeholders’ authentic video stories and be inspired by best practices in sustainable construction. For example, Michael L. Gentoso, from U.S. Concrete, tells how he used BASF’s Green Sense® Concrete program to reduce CO2 emission significantly in the construction of the One World Trade Center while ensuring a stronger building structure. More stories from producers, applicators and contractors, developers and architects are available here.

If visitors are searching for information for specific construction projects, they can use segments such as residential and non-residential buildings and infrastructures as entry points, in order to learn how to use BASF products and solutions in various applications, such as concrete admixtures to build a long-lasting bridge foundation, waterproofing solutions to protect roofs from water damage, and foams to improve wall insulation and reduce energy costs.

Users can directly contact BASF construction experts around the world and find information about upcoming construction events where they can meet BASF experts in person.
