Sepawa Congress 2013: BASF presents solutions addressing the latest market trends

  • BASF will showcase innovative concepts for the home care and industrial and institutional (I&I) cleaning as well as personal care markets
  • Experts from BASF will share their expertise in current product developments and market trends

Ludwigshafen, Germany – August 16, 2013 From October 9 to 11, BASF will be taking part in the 60th Sepawa Congress in Fulda, Germany, at booths 200-202 and 250-254. The congress is a key event for representatives from the detergents and cleaners, cosmetics and perfume industries, offering a communication platform for exchanges between scientific research and industrial practice. Technical and marketing experts from BASF will also be taking part in the European Detergents Conference and the Forum for Innovation, addressing their latest concepts as well as trends and key topics within the industry, such as sustainable development throughout the value chain.

Market-driven solutions for home care and I&I applications

Consumer needs in the home care and I&I market are the reason for a growing demand for solutions that are convenient, high-performing and that contribute to sustainable development. At Sepawa, BASF will present innovative solutions to help manufacturers meet these tough challenges. For convenient laundry applications, BASF will be showcasing an “3D concept” for fabric softeners that appeals to three of the five senses – touch, sight and smell – in response to the growing demand for softeners that deliver more than just softness. Long-lasting fragrance is becoming more and more important, as are esthetic aspects such as the color and texture of the final product. BASF will present solutions for formulating fabric softeners to meet these demands. These include biodegradable cationic surfactants (esterquats) as well as additional ingredients such as biocides, optical brighteners, rheology modifiers, dye transfer inhibitors, and stabilizers.

One solution for sustainable cleaning processes in home care and I&I is Lutropur® M. This highly pure and odorless methanesulfonic acid combines outstanding cleaning performance with an excellent ecotoxic profile and good material compatibility. It is fast-acting, effective and can safely be used on a broad range of surfaces.

With Trilon® M BASF presents another high-performing product for the home care and I&I market. This highly effective, readily biodegradable chelating agent can be used as an alternative to phosphates and contributes to the development of sustainable high-performance dishwashing formulations.

Personal care products with science inspired by life

The approach of BASF’s Personal Care business is based on a combination of its key strengths, market empathy and science excellence, which includes a high level of technological know-how and formulation expertise. In this approach, the needs and desires of consumers are an essential starting point. This entails shifting the focus towards observation of consumer needs and desires by analyzing market research dataand using science excellence to transform them into real-life innovative products.

At this year’s Sepawa Congress, BASF’s Personal Care business will reveal fresh insights into Lamesoft® OD, one of its latest consumer-driven innovations. The micro emulsion is made up entirely of renewable raw materials and enriches body cleansing products with finely dispersed oil which remains on the skin after washing. In response to the growing consumer demand for products based on plant-derived ingredients, BASF will also present its alkyl polyglucoside range Plantacare® which will be featured in a new brochure. These surfactants are ideal for use in natural-based rinse-off products, and offer excellent cleansing as well as proven mildness. With “Synchronized Beauty”, BASF’s Personal Care business will launch a new face care concept based on chronosolutions that take into account the skin’s circadian rhythm to give it a radiant glow at all times. Moreover, BASF’s portfolio on display will include Luviset® One. The all-in-one solution for hair-styling gels, creams and waxes delivers strong styling performance and long-lasting curl retention together with a smooth, crystal-clear gel base.
