Water – an important resource

The World Water Day on March 22 serves as a reminder that water is a valuable resource. In total 3,862,000 million cubic meters of water are withdrawn per year, more than two-thirds by agriculture and one-fifth by industry. For BASF, responsible water use is an important topic. The company uses water as a cooling agent, a solvent and cleaning agent, as well as to manufacture products. In addition, BASF’s products contribute to efficient water use and the company is developing solutions for the water supply of the future (Graphic: BASF).
