BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals launches granular fungicide for turfgrass professionals
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, October 26, 2011 – BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals today announced the launch of PillarTM G fungicide, a new granular fungicide for disease control in most turfgrass types on residential, commercial and institutional lawns, golf courses, sod farms, sports fields, recreational areas, parks and cemeteries.
On sale now,Pillar G combines triticonazole, the same active ingredient as in Trinity® fungicide and pyraclostrobin, the same active ingredient as in Insignia® fungicide. The Insignia family of fungicides from BASF, including Insignia® WDG and Insignia® SC Intrinsic™ brand fungicide, generated the most overall sales in the golf market for the year 2010. This status as the number one selling fungicide in golf is supported by the annual U.S. professional turf and ornamental market study conducted by Specialty Products Consultants, LLC.
Turfgrass diseases controlled by Pillar G include dollar spot, anthracnose, patch diseases (brown patch, large patch, take-all patch, and summer patch), snow mold and leaf spot.
“Turfgrass professionals now have a convenient, highly efficacious granular fungicide to add to their disease control programs,” said Brian Lish, Business Manager, BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals. “Pillar G is another example of our commitment to developing high-quality, innovative solutions that help our customers be more successful.”
Pillar G fungicide’s granular formulation gives turfgrass professionals added application flexibility and convenience. Professionals can apply it when they only need a spot treatment or in conditions inhibiting spray equipment, such as when spray equipment is prohibited from a turf area due to wetness or snow cover or when air temperatures may freeze spray lines.
In addition, the clay granule formulation of Pillar G has excellent spreading characteristics due to its density and uniform particle size, enabling the active ingredients to move quickly off the granule after irrigation or precipitation and protect the turfgrass soon after application.
