BASF Cellasto receives Ford Motor Company’s Q1 preferred quality award

WYANDOTTE, MI, August 5, 2013 – The BASF Wyandotte Cellasto® business, a leading manufacturer of automotive spring aids, coil spring isolators and top mounts, was recently recognized by Ford Motor Company as a preferred supplier and was awarded the Ford Q1 certification. The award acknowledges suppliers for superior quality and delivery, and the ongoing implementation of an effective quality system.

The Ford Q1 award is Ford Motor Company’s highest distinction for supplier quality and uses several key elements to rate suppliers:

  • Assessment and validation of management system capabilities to insure safety, environmental, quality and customer satisfaction
  • Ford manufacturing plant endorsements which reflect the effectiveness of a supplier’s systems towards meeting daily quality and delivery targets
  • Ongoing monitoring of performance
  • Continuous improvement activities within the company
  •

Suppliers must initially achieve, and then maintain, a performance score of >800 points.  The BASF Cellasto plant maintains a >1300 point status, positioning them as one of Ford’s top suppliers.

“Receiving Ford’s Q1 award is an honor and we are very proud of this accomplishment,” said Jim Miller, BASF Cellasto Quality Manager.  “This achievement is the result of the entire team’s effort and celebrates our ongoing commitment to provide quality products and services that exceed customer expectations.”

Representatives from Ford Motor Company visited BASF and presented a plaque and a Ford Q1 flag to employees. The flag was raised in front of the Cellasto plant during an award ceremony and luncheon.
