BASF to sponsor and present at 105th American Oil Chemists’ Society Annual Meeting

ISELIN, NJ, April 30, 2014 – BASF will sponsor and participate in the 105th American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS) Meeting and Expo, May 4 – 7, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. BASF product improvements will be featured in the areas of new high activity bleaching clays.

In addition, BASF will present two topics during the short course on the “Fundamentals of Edible Oil Processing and Refining” on Saturday, May 3: 

  • Thorsten von Fehren, Ph.D., Global Product Technology Manager, Oleochemicals for BASF, will present “Catalytic Hydrogenation of Oils and Fats.”
  • Radu Craciun, Ph.D., Global Product Technology Manager, Oleochemicals for BASF, will present “Highly Activated Bleaching Clays for Oil Purification: Structure/Activity Correlation and the Chemistry Behind the Scenes.”

Craciun will also present “Bleaching Clays – New, High Performance Clays from BASF,” during the Exhibitor Session Technology Showcase 2 on Tuesday, May 6.

The AOCS Annual Meeting and Expo is the premier global science and business forum on fats, oils, surfactants, lipids and related materials.
