BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals donates radios to local fire departments
PORT ARTHUR, TX, October 9, 2014 -- BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals LLC recently donated 155 portable, two-way radios to area fire departments to support communications and emergency-response efforts.
T he radios became available earlier this year when BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals upgraded its radio system from analog to digital. The analog radios are now being used by firefighters and first responders at the China Volunteer Fire Department, Labelle-Fannett Volunteer Fire Department, Orange County Emergency Service District and Pinehurst Volunteer Fire Department.
“Our analog radios were still in good condition, and we knew they could benefit other organizations that use radios in their daily operations,” said Greg Masica, Vice President and Port Arthur Site Manager. “We decided to donate our radios to local fire departments that depend on reliable communications equipment to perform their duties and keep their communities safe."
“These radios are helping us tremendously and saving us the cost of having to replace our older radio models," said Fire Chief Matt Manshack of Orange County Emergency Service District. “Radios are essential in our everyday operations, so we really appreciate this valuable donation."
