BASF raises more than $23,000 for United Way of South Hampton Roads
SUFFOLK, VA, December 18, 2014 – BASF concluded its 2014/2015 United Way campaign on a high note, with an increase in employee contributions of 10 percent over last year. Sixteen United Way agencies will receive a portion of the $23,585 raised by BASF to support community programs in Suffolk, Franklin, Smithfield and the counties of Isle of Wight, Southampton and Surry.
“The increase in individual giving reflects our team’s appreciation of the important work by area non-profit organizations,” said Patrick Hochstrasser, Ph.D., Suffolk Site Director for BASF. “We are proud to support their work in making the community an even better place.”
As part of BASF’s commitment to the United Way, a group of employees volunteered for a Day of Caring at the ForKids’ Suffolk House, where they landscaped the two-acre grounds, painted and replaced wood on wheelchair ramps, detailed vans used to transport children and assembled toys. BASF also held internal events during the campaign, including a luncheon for continuing contributors and the sale of lunches to help raise funds.
