BASF food drive secures more than 1,500 contributed meals in fight to end hunger

CHATTANOOGA, TN, October 26, 2017 – In support of National Hunger Action Month in September, BASF employees participated in a canned food drive in partnership with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. The month-long food drive and monetary donations from employees resulted in more than 1,500 meals contributed to the food bank - double the amount collected from BASF’s food drive last year.

“BASF encourages employees to support the Chattanooga Area Food Bank through annual food drives and volunteer work,” said Robert Gagliano, Site Director for BASF Chattanooga. “We are extremely proud of their generosity, commitment and hard work this past month to support the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.”

BASF employees from the two manufacturing facilities located in Chattanooga assembled food packages for nearly 300 families at the food bank and 175 families at Gateway Towers Apartments.

“There are millions of families throughout the U.S. in need of food – many of those families live right here in our community,” said Mark Schock,  volunteer coordinator for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. “We are moved by the annual generosity and hard work of BASF employees. Their support from this month’s drive has made a huge difference for those in need in the Chattanooga area.”
