BASF and employees donate $300,000 to Capital Area United Way

GEISMAR, LA, May 29, 2018 – BASF recently continued its longtime support of the Capital Area United Way by presenting the organization with a $300,000 check during a fundraising event and jambalaya cook-off at the BASF site in Geismar. The donation represents the total amount pledged during the 2017-2018 United Way campaign by BASF and employees from the BASF facilities in Geismar, North Geismar and Zachary.

“Capital Area United Way provides our community with the services and programs that are needed to improve the quality of life for many of our neighbors in need, said Tom Yura, Senior Vice President and General Manager. “The organization’s giving model spreads donations across numerous organizations and programs that help thousands of people.”

In addition to the traditional employee-giving campaign, BASF sponsors numerous events and raises money to support military veterans and women leadership initiatives. BASF also provides funding to the United Way’s Ascension Parish Advisory Council, a group of representatives from local companies, nonprofit organizations and community leaders who help to identify any gaps in services so that United Way can provide solutions specific to Ascension Parish residents.

“BASF is an outstanding partner in Ascension Parish and our entire service area,” said George Bell, Capital Area United Way President and CEO. “Through their continued generosity and dedication to our mission, we are able to make a lasting impact on our community.”
