BASF named Company of the Year by the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers

Company recognized as STEM industry leader

Denise Hartmann receives SASE Advocate award

FLORHAM PARK, NJ, October 9, 2018 – The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) presented BASF with its Company of the Year Award in recognition of the company’s leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion. Denise Hartmann, Vice President, Business Management, Resins & Additives, BASF, also received the SASE Advocate Award.

SASE acknowledged BASF for its significant contributions to the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professions; long-standing commitment to cultural diversity and inclusion in the workplace as well as advocacy and services that support and advance diverse populations. Hartmann received the SASE Advocate of the Year award for her commitment to promote diversity and inclusion in her role as a BASF North America Diversity & Inclusion Ambassador as well as serving as a mentor for younger Asian American Pacific Island professionals and actively contributing to their career advancement.

In addition to the leadership awards, several BASF employees received awards recognizing their achievements as Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) students and professionals:

  • Rebecca Kuo, Technical Service Engineer – Promising Professional Award
  • Dr. Liying Wang, Senior Scientist – Promising Professional Award
  • Dr. Eranda Wanigasekara, Senior Scientist – Promising Professional Award
  • Dr. E. Jack Chen, Senior Consultant – Technical/Research/Business Achievement Award
  • Dr. Syed Ashraf, Senior Scientist – Employee Research Group (ERG) Leadership Award

SASE honored the BASF’s 2018 winners during the Achievement Award and Leadership Award dinners at the SASE National Conference and STEM Career Fair.
