FiberMax sponsors 60th Annual Caprock Classic Basketball Tournament
LUBBOCK, TX, December 27, 2018 – Nearly 90 top high school basketball teams from across Texas, Oklahoma and Australia will hoop it up Dec. 27-29 at the 60th Annual FiberMax® Caprock Classic in Lubbock, Texas.
The Caprock Classic is one of the largest high school basketball tournaments in the country and annually showcases some of the nation’s top boys and girls high school basketball players. This is the 11th consecutive year that FiberMax cotton has been the title sponsor for the event.
The Caprock Chapter of the American Business Clubs (AMBUCS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating independence and mobility for people with disabilities in the Lubbock area, will host the tournament. Net proceeds will help Caprock AMBUCS donate therapeutic tricycles, build wheelchair ramps and provide scholarships to therapists.
“This past summer, BASF acquired FiberMax and through the acquisition has remained committed to the Lubbock community and the cotton industry as a whole,” said Jeff Brehmer, U.S. Cotton Commercial Production Seed Manager for BASF. “We demonstrate this every day through our Lubbock community partnerships with organizations such as Caprock AMBUCS, the South Plains Food Bank, the Ronald McDonald House of the South Plains and the Guadalupe After School Program.”
Lubbock serves as the headquarters of global cotton operations for BASF and is home to more than 100 BASF employees. “Through the FiberMax Caprock Classic, we’re helping support our young West Texas athletes and our physically challenged neighbors. The success of this program intensifies our commitment to this community, one that is shared by all the BASF employees who call West Texas their home,” said Brehmer.
