BASF donates $10,000 to American Red Cross of Louisiana
GEISMAR, LA, June 3, 2025 – BASF has announced a donation of $10,000 to the American Red Cross of Louisiana, continuing BASF’s long-standing partnership with the Red Cross and their joint commitment to community safety and support.
This contribution comes after a recent “Sound the Alarm” community event where BASF employees from the Geismar and North Geismar sites joined Red Cross volunteers to install over 50 free fire alarms and provide essential safety information to residents of more than 70 homes in Donaldsonville. Home fires claim seven lives every day, but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half, according to the Red Cross.
“We at BASF have always believed in the power of community and the importance of safety,” said Jerry Lebold, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BASF in Geismar. “Through this partnership with the American Red Cross, we are able to make a tangible difference in the lives of people in our communities.”
The donation will be utilized by the Red Cross to further its programs and initiatives aimed at disaster preparedness, response and recovery in Louisiana. Through educational workshops and outreach efforts, the organization aims to equip communities with the tools they need to stay safe in and recover from emergencies.
“We are incredibly grateful for this generous gift and continued partnership,” said Micah Nicholas, Executive Director of the Capital Area West Chapter of the American Red Cross of Louisiana. “Support like this fuels our mission and directly impacts families by helping them stay safe and prepared in times of emergency. Together, we’re not just installing smoke alarms — we’re building strong, more resilient communities across Louisiana.”
