FLORHAM PARK, NEW JERSEY, August 10, 2026 – BASF announces availability of Bemotrizinol (BEMT), marketed under the BASF trademark Tinosorb® S, in the United States following the recent approval of Bemotrizinol as a sunscreen active ingredient by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
BASF confirms that it is authorized to market and sell Bemotrizinol (Tinosorb S) in the United States pursuant to a Supplemental License Agreement with DSM Nutritional Products LLC. Under this agreement, BASF has been granted co-exclusive rights to market and sell Bemotrizinol during the FDA's 18-month exclusivity period, including for use in sunscreen products manufactured in the United States and/or imported into the United States.
Tinosorb S (Bemotrizinol) is a highly effective, broad-spectrum UV filter that provides protection across both the UVA and UVB ranges. In addition to its UV protection benefits, Tinosorb S is recognized globally for its exceptional photostability and its ability to improve the photostability of other UV filters. These qualities enable manufacturers to develop advanced, broad-spectrum sunscreen formulations with long-lasting performance and enhanced skin protection.

With FDA approval of Tinosorb S now in place, BASF looks forward to working with sunscreen manufacturers, brand owners, and formulators across the United States to bring innovative sun protection solutions to market and help meet consumers' evolving expectations for effective, reliable, and high-performing sunscreen products.
