Durasorb LNG MAX technology implemented at Cheniere’s Corpus Christi LNG Facility

  • BASF’s innovative Durasorb technology aids in simplifying operations and unlocking increased production
  • Cheniere plans to utilize Durasorb broadly across their liquefaction trains at the Corpus Christi LNG facility
  • BASF provides the technology license and technical support to ensure successful start-up and smooth operation

HOUSTON, TX, September 9, 2026 – BASF today announced that Cheniere Energy, Inc. has commissioned Durasorb® LNG MAX technology at its LNG facility in Corpus Christi, Texas (the “CCL Facility”). Durasorb installation at the CCL Facility began in 2025 and is now in place on multiple mid-scale and large-scale liquefaction trains. Cheniere plans to complete installation and commissioning of Durasorb across the remaining CCL Facility liquefaction trains by the end of 2027. BASF supported Cheniere through preparation, implementation and startup, supplying Durasorb technology and specialty adsorbent materials. Building on earlier small‑scale successes, BASF has now demonstrated the technology’s performance on a large scale and its added value to customers. 

Durasorb LNG MAX for simplified pre-treatment and increased feed gas flexibility 

Durasorb LNG MAX process technology provides a single-unit adsorption solution for removing trace heavy hydrocarbons (HHCs), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX) and water to cryogenic specifications. This capability prevents freeze out of these components and associated downtime, improving operational reliability and flexibility. The technology is suitable for retrofitting dehydration units and greenfield projects. BASF supports design and operation using proprietary modelling tools and ongoing technical assistance.
