BASF is now offering biomass-balanced and Ccycled grades of its plasticizer portfolio from production sites in Pasadena, Texas and Cornwall, Ontario, to customers. The sites and mass-balanced products have been certified according to the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS scheme.

BASF, a global leader in sustainable chemistry, is set to take the industry on a plastics journey at the largest plastics show in the Americas - the National Plastics Expo (NPE2024), taking place May 6-10 in Orlando, Florida. Michael Heinz, Chairman and CEO of BASF Corporation, will deliver the keynote address on Wednesday, May 8, titled “Our Plastics Journey: The Road to a Sustainable Future,” in which he will address the industry’s challenges, emphasize the importance of collaboration along the value chain and offer insights into the future.

BASF has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to begin award negotiations to receive up to $75 million – funded under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) – for an investment project to introduce low-carbon syngas production from recycled chemical byproduct streams at its Freeport site.

For the first time, BASF brings Ccycled^® products manufactured in the U.S. to the market using feedstock from plastic waste. Leveraging its global expertise in ChemCycling^®, BASF is offering customers ISCC+ certified advanced recycled building blocks from the BASF TotalEnergies Petrochemicals (BTP) facility in Port Arthur, Texas.

This new, readily biodegradable*, anti-redeposition polymer is designed to meet customers’ growing need for products with greater emphasis on sustainability without compromising on performance.
