Rheovis®, Attagel®, Attaflow® and Efka® rheology modifiers for water-based, solvent-based, and solvent-free formulations

Our synthetic rheology modifiers include non-ionic associative (HEUR / HMPE), anionic associative (HASE) and non-associative thickener (ASE) technologies. Our focus is on highly efficient additives for water-based systems. Our rheology modifiers also provide additional functionalities like wetting properties and health or environmental benefits such as suitability for formulations free of VOCs, odors, APEOs and heavy metals. 

Rheology modifiers from BASF effectively reduce dripping and spattering of paints during roller or brush application. Sag resistance is improved by a rapid but controlled viscosity increase after application. They also reliably prevent sedimentation of pigments during transport and storage of the paints.

Rheology modifiers for water-based systems

Attagel 15
An economical, coarse particle-size attapulgite product that has high gel strength and a smooth texture with good spreading characteristics.
Attagel 30
A medium-fine grind, cost-effective attapulgite clay thickener for use in a wide variety of thickening applications.
Attagel 40
Inert powdered gelling grade of attapulgite clay. It is finely pulverized to effectively form colloidal gels in ionic and non-ionic aqueous solutions to provide thixotropic thickening and suspension.
Attagel 50
An inert powdered gelling grade of attapulgite clay for use in a variety of applications requiring thixotropic thickening and suspension aid. 
Rheovis AS 1130
Alkali swellable emulsion (ASE) that, upon neutralization with a base, imparts strong shear thinning characteristics in water-based coating systems.
Rheovis HS 1162
An outstanding extreme low-shear to thixotropic thickener and rheology-control agent for aqueous coatings.
Rheovis HS 1212
A hydrophobically modified alkali swellable emulsion (HASE) that, upon neutralization with a base, imparts mid- to high-shear rheology control in water-based coating systems.

Efka RM 1469
Rheology modifier for solvent-based systems. Recommended in the application of pigment preparations as well as in clear or topcoats which require maximum gloss.
Efka RM 1900
Rheology modifier that provides excellent sag resistance for non-aqueous formulations with higher temperature stability.
Efka RM 1920
Rheology modifier that provides excellent sag resistance for non-aqueous formulations with standard thixotropy.
Efka RM 1965
