Animal Nutrition

Feeding more animals for the growing global meat, milk and egg demand while saving the planet's resources and environment is the key challenge: for the feed industry, for farmers, and for us. We are here to take on this challenge with enthusiasm to provide to our valued customers excellent products for a sustainable future.

Pharma Solutions

BASF wants to ensure that its renewable-based products are made from sustainably sourced raw materials. Our key renewable raw materials are palm oil, palm kernel oil and fish oil, which are used to produce pharmaceutical APIs, excipients and processing aids. BASF works with its suppliers to minimize risks and to advance an industry transformation towards sustainability.

Circular economy means the decoupling of growth and resource consumption. The picture represents the variety of plastic waste of an average household. From feed to farm to fork to the future of Vietnam

With fast urbanization, increasing population and developing middle class in the last few decades, Vietnam is more and more demanding for animal products like milk, meat, seafood and eggs – with good quality and at affordable prices. How can feed and animal producers best respond to all these, while maximizing their productivity and minimizing cost challenges and impacts to the neighboring environment? BASF offers innovative solutions and partnerships with our industry partners to help them make it happen.

The Rambutan Program: A sustainable sourcing project in Vietnam

In an ambitious sustainable sourcing project initiated in 2014, BASF is utilizing organically farmed rambutan fruit and by-products as feedstocks for actives. The program respects the needs and interests of local ecosystems as well as smallholders and workers. Using farming practices that have undergone an NGO sustainability assessment, our partners in Vietnam cultivate Java-variety rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum) in the country’s first rambutan plantation to be independently certified by Ecocert.

Responsible Care Initiative

As a voluntary initiative of the chemical industry, the Responsible Care^® initiative has pursued the safe handling of chemicals throughout their entire life cycle, as well as excellent performance in the areas of environmental protection, health and safety.

Here at BASF, we too practice a corporate culture in which safety, health and the environment are at the forefront of our minds. To aim for continuous improvement within these areas, we began our commitment to the Responsible Care initiative back in 1992 globally and in 2013 locally.
