WORLD’S FIRST ENGINE COOLANT, GLYSANTIN®, ENTERS NIGERIAN MARKET WITH THE PREMIUM G48 BRAND

  • BASF Fuel and Lubricant Solutions has introduced its premium engine coolant, GLYSANTIN® G48, into the Nigerian automotive industry.
  • Subsequently, the BASF team in West Africa to partner with the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria (AHK Nigeria) to train over 300 Nigerian auto-mechanics.

Lagos, Nigeria, 26 February 2023 – BASF Fuel and Lubricant Solutions has introduced its premium engine coolant, GLYSANTIN® G48, into the Nigerian automotive industry to provide local customers with three-fold protection for their cars’ and generators’ cooling systems against corrosion, overheating, and cavitation.

Meeting the world’s developing need for an anti-freeze engine coolant at a time when none was existing, BASF invented and patented GLYSANTIN® in 1929, and has since introduced more cutting-edge cooling solutions that have continued to address the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s engine technologies.

Speaking at the launch in Lagos, Nigeria, BASF Technical Account Manager for Fuel and Lubricant Solutions in East & West Africa, Joseph Ndungu, said that, in a demonstration of trust, GLYSANTIN® has undergone different approval processes to become the coolant with the most OEM approvals in the world – this is despite the long time and costs that are involved in securing an OEM approval.

Sequel to the launch, the BASF team in West Africa, in partnership with the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria (AHK Nigeria), will also be training over 300 Nigerian auto-mechanics leveraging the German dual vocational training model.

Representing the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria (AHK Nigeria) at the launch, Katharina Felgenhauer, praised the BASF team for often pioneering sustainable solutions in the Nigerian market and for the planned effort to improve human capacity in the Nigerian automotive industry.
