BASF Precious Metals Services expands EIB pricing data to include market updates for Asia Pacific region

ISELIN, NJ, April 15, 2013 -- BASF has announced the expansion of its long-standing Engelhard Industrial Bullion (EIB) precious metals pricing data to include market updates for the Asia Pacific region, published each business day at 14:00 Tokyo time on the company’s precious metals Web site, www.catalysts.basf.com/eib .

By doing so, the company is helping facilitate customers’ metal pricing requirements during Asia Pacific business hours, while also offering downloadable historic pricing data and graphing capabilities to support customer analyses. The Asia Pacific market data supplements BASF’s US-market EIB pricing updates, which are posted online each business day at 10:30 a.m., New York time.

“Previously, customers in Asia Pacific markets who purchase metals on the basis of our daily published pricing data have had to wait until the following business day to learn the EIB pricing applicable to their particular regional metal requirements,” said Mark Barnard, Marketing Director, BASF Precious Metals Services. “We have a large, growing customer base in the Asia Pacific market and the addition of regional EIB data provides customers with same-day pricing information in their time zones, at which they can be assured that the metal they purchase will be in the correct form and purity, delivered on time to the particular BASF facility which is manufacturing their catalysts.”

The EIB is a leading benchmark for industrial buyers of precious metals products. The EIB represents BASF’s spot selling price for catalytic grade sponge or powder, delivered to customers’ pool accounts for use in the production of precious metals-bearing catalysts manufactured by BASF. In addition to the online posting, the company’s platinum and palladium EIB (U.S.) prices have been published daily in The Wall Street Journal for more than 35 years. Platts Metals Week also carries BASF’s rhodium, iridium, and ruthenium EIB pricing data.

BASF is a full service provider of precious metal products and services, leveraging unparalleled market insight and decades of precious metals sourcing, trading and hedging expertise to create a tangible competitive advantage for BASF and its customers.
