BASF Canada promotes sustainability at the International Children’s Games in Windsor-Essex County
In support of the City’s “Green Games” initiative, BASF Canada donated $12,000 which will fund environmentally friendly Hydration Stations, known as “Quench Buggies,” throughout the event sports venues. In addition, 5,000 reusable water bottles will be provided to support the participants, coaches, delegation members and visitors. The quench buggy is a mobile water dispensing unit designed to meet personal hydration needs. Multiple onboard fountains and spigots provide easy access to clean, cool, fresh potable water.
“The International Children’s Games is a unique opportunity to showcase this diverse region to the rest of the world,” said Guido Broche, Site Director for BASF’s Windsor site. “We are proud to sponsor the city’s ‘Green Games’ initiative. It is directly aligned with BASF’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection. It will also help educate future generations to live more sustainably.”
The 2013 International Children’s Games (ICG) will be the 47th in ICG history. It will bring 1500 Athletes from 82 cities in 34 countries to the Windsor-Essex region. The goal of the ICG is to enable, develop and advance the meeting, understanding and friendship of children from different counties, and advance the values and spirit of the Olympic Games.
“This support from BASF is really appreciated,” said Mayor Francis. “It’s the kind of corporate community support that will help to make our Games the best ever, and it helps to safeguard our environment at the same time.”
