BASF introduces flagship online store to excite footwear customers in India
- The online store offers PU and TPU components for all footwear systems
India, Mumbai – October 15, 2021 – Leading footwear material provider BASF Performance Materials has unveiled its first footwear material e-commerce store in India. The new site enables customers in India to purchase polyurethane (PU) and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) systems for a myriad of footwear solutions - from safety footwear to casual sandals.
As COVID-19 lockdown measures turn more consumers online, the new online flagship store - built on a powerful e-commerce B2B platform - is the key to better meeting consumer demand in the footwear materials sector. The footwear segment in the Performance Material business division of BASF India sought to create a digital flagship shop that would provide the service quality customers expect in-person and translate that for the virtual world. The result – a user-friendly, seamless, intuitive, and engaging experience that pairs a sleek, highly visual display with industry-leading technical enhancements. Whether accessing the website from a mobile phone, tablet, or desktop, consumers will receive the same high level of customer experience across all platforms.
“We have huge volumes of shoes being manufactured in India - and our customers in India have an uncompromising drive for excellence. So it was important to infuse the same spirit into the new website,” said Prabir Das, Business Director, Performance Materials South Asia, BASF India Limited. “We collaborated across multiple practices to create an interface that is swift and responsive – fostering the customer’s desire to remain fearlessly independent while offering personalized support at key moments of the shopping experience.”
“Our customer is at the core of every decision we make,” said Minli Zhao, Vice President, Consumer Industry, BASF Performance Materials Asia Pacific. “When we decided to launch a flagship store online in India, it was imperative that the shift not only maintained but improved upon the level of service we strive to provide for every customer.”
As of 2018, the total number of shoes produced in India was 2,579 Mn pairs. Out of the global production, India’s share was pegged at 10.7 percent.* The Indian Footwear market is projected to display a robust growth represented by a CAGR of 8.28% during 2020-2025. Indian Footwear Market was valued at USD 9.70 Billion in the year 2019.**
