Recently, BASF was awarded as one of the “Top 20 ESG Pioneer Foreign Enterprises in China (2024)” (“Top 20 ESG Pioneers”) issued by China Media Group (CMG), in recognition of its leading ESG practices in China.

“This award acknowledges BASF’s long-term commitment to sustainable development and highlights our leading role in building a sustainable ecosystem with value chain partners in China,” stated Dr. Jeffrey Lou, Chairman and President of BASF Greater China. “We would like to thank our team in China for their strong efforts, as well as our partners and stakeholders across the value network.”

The “Report on Foreign Companies’ ESG Actions in China” (“the report”) was first launched by CMG in 2024, with its second edition released this year. The 2024 report was jointly released by CMG and several local authorities, following rigorous screenings and in-depth evaluations. It showcases the consistent efforts of foreign enterprises in China that are striving for sustainable development through innovation and ESG practices.

The samples in the report came from 28 countries and regions, covering 16 industries. The report evaluated 338 foreign enterprises operating in China and selected 20 as the “Top 20 ESG Pioneers.” BASF was one of the few chemical companies listed among the 20 awarded enterprises.
