BASF strengthens its commitment to the Zhanjiang community with new Community Advisory Panel members
Zhanjiang, China – September 1, 2025 – BASF recently welcomed new community members to its Community Advisory Panel (CAP) in Zhanjiang, officially inaugurating the Panel’s Second Session.
This is the first renewal of members ever since the establishment of BASF’s CAP in Zhanjiang as early as August 2020, the early phase of its investment and construction of the Zhanjiang Verbund site project. It will further strengthen exchanges between BASF and the Zhanjiang local community and contribute to the new chapter BASF writes together with the local community for a sustainable future.
"BASF is committed to growing in and with the communities where we operate. Open communication and dialogues are the cornerstones of building trust between the BASF Zhanjiang Verbund site and the local community", said Marko Murtonen, Senior Vice President, New Verbund Site China, BASF & General Manager, BASF Integrated Site (Guangdong) Co. Ltd. “The CAP in Zhanjiang serves as a bridge, facilitating communications and exchanges between BASF and the local Zhanjiang community. We greatly appreciate the support and dedication of the members from the First Session of the CAP in Zhanjiang, and will continue to actively incorporate feedback and suggestions from our community neighbors into future development plans, working together to build the BASF Zhanjiang Verbund site as a role model for sustainable development."
The second session of the CAP in Zhanjiang brings together local representatives from all walks of life and will continue to hold regular activities to update the community on the latest progress of the Zhanjiang Verbund site. At the same time, the Panel will address concerns raised by community residents and actively listen to their feedback, further strengthening BASF’s Good Neighbor Program and fostering mutual trust and a win–win relationship between the company and the community.
BASF has established CAPs worldwide to facilitate engagement with communities around its major production sites. CAP members, selected from local communities, meet regularly with BASF site management to discuss topics of mutual interest. In Greater China, BASF has set up CAPs in Shanghai, Chongqing, Nanjing, and Zhanjiang, listening to opinions and concerns from the community and various industry representatives in surrounding areas.
