Climate protection is a central component of the BASF strategy. For many years, the company has been continuously reducing its CO2 emissions. For further significant reduction innovative processes, such as the synthesis gas direct conversion for the synthesis of olefins, our research is developing. Olefins are intermediate substances, for the production of cleaning materials, aroma chemicals or superabsorbents. New process technologies and catalysts can reduce the carbon footprint of olefin production by up to 50 percent. Lab Team Leader Sabine Schuster and chemical laboratory technician Oliver Secosan are changing the catalysts in the new synthesis gas direct conversion plant.
二氧化碳是许多生物呼吸的副产物,天然且无毒。木头、煤、油或天然气燃烧时也会释放出二氧化碳。大气中二氧化碳的浓度极低,仅为0.04%。然而,它在温室气体中占比很高。二氧化碳能吸收地球释放到太空的一部分热量,并将其反射回来。
