Customer orientation and corporate challenges - sales employees at BASF.

As the world’s leading chemical company we manufacture a variety of products for the most varied of client companies, for example in the automotive, plastic, construction or food industries, and beyond. As a result, there are a vast number of opportunities for sales experts who act as a link between BASF and the ever-changing customer demands. To be able to react to these changes quickly and efficiently, customer orientation and close interaction are two of the most important success factors.
In sales you are located directly in one of our regional and global business units and are responsible for a particular customer portfolio in a region or industry. You solidify the market leadership of BASF in cooperation with marketing and logistics.

As a university graduate you can join the company in a position with responsibility. From the very start, you take on responsibility for the tasks, customers and projects assigned to you. Your training is on the job with the support of experienced colleagues who facilitate you joining the company.

You have successfully completed your business degree, possibly specializing in sales management, business engineering or business chemistry. You have an entrepreneurial personality, like working in teams and are customer-oriented. You also have excellent communication skills in German English.

In sales you have the opportunity to join us in the following roles:

  • In key account management you will support important major BASF customers in the relevant segments and be responsible for the product range for these customers. Your main tasks include establishing and maintaining customer relationships, coordinating logistics, regional sales and technical services.
  • In classical direct sales you will support several customers in an area or industry segment. Depending on the business unit, the regional responsibility varies, as does the range of customers and products - from commodities to specialty products.
  • In sales support and controlling you are responsible for operational reporting, price monitoring and credit and risk management.

As a responsible key account manager or account manager, you will handle the complete sales process for a selected regional or global customer portfolio and establish and maintain sustained customer relationships.

Your activities are guided by the respective departmental strategy and range from market analysis and new customer acquisition, quality assurance of products and solutions,  to negotiating delivery agreements and fulfilling after-sales measures.

BASF offers you diverse opportunities for development: whether you want to become an expert in your chosen field, become a generalist or want to get to know a variety of functional units within BASF – we can support and help you along every step of the way. Thanks to our large number of business units, functional divisions and competence centers, you have many options open to you.
