New perspectives for scientists and engineers

Styrolanlage Standort Ludwigshafen.

Abdruck honorarfrei. Copyright by BASF.

Styrene Plant Ludwigshafen. The styrene value adding chain begins in the steam cracker. This is where, among others products, ethylene and benzene are extracted from the feedstock naphtha (petroleum). Both basic chemicals are used as raw materials in the production of styrene. Styrene is used to manufacture dispersions but above all foams and other plastics. They are found in thousands of different end products: cars, building insulation, packaging, household appliances, vacuum cleaners and printers. Print free of charge. Copyright by BASF.

We pick you up from where you currently are and offer an intensive introductory training by experienced colleagues who will integrate you into the team.

Find out how you can apply what you have learned in your degree and your previous professional experience in practice and profit from the diversity of automation and control technology.

Working as an engineer means working on countless cutting-edge projects, in areas such as automation technology, wireless technology, RFID technology and measuring technology, as well as applying IT systems for production. BASF offers hugely exciting roles for electrical engineers – you will work to develop the best possible solutions with responsibility from the outset.

Automation and control engineering is a broad field. You have a technical/science degree in physics, electrical engineering, process/control engineering, technical IT or (technological) mathematics for example and want to transfer your knowledge, reflected in your above-average grades, to practical situations.

We expect an analytical understanding, creative approach to problem solving and a high level of commitment. In addition to excellent German and English communication skills, you can also work well independently.

We look forward to receiving your complete application documents.

We offer you a varity of different opportunities to join BASF:

For example, at our technical centers, which oversee the ongoing production at BASF's production sites. The specialist centers for automation and electrical engineering offer technological expertise and a competitive service along the entire process and production cycle, specializing in weighing, filling and packaging technology, process analysis technology, PCE field devices, and automation, electrical, communications and conveyor technology.

Or in plant construction, where electrical engineers carry out tasks such as planning the infrastructure and automation of production plants.

You can be responsible for any of the following tasks, depending upon your given role:

  • operation optimization projects
  • developing and implementing innovative technological solutions
  • developing and maintaining measuring devices and PCE field devices
  • projects in production-related communications technology
  • automating laboratory activities using robotic systems
  • designing and sourcing electrical machines
  • automating logistics through RFID technology and automated data recording and processing

Alongside various roles in our technical centers, plant construction and energy provision, there are other opportunities such as in research and development, site management, production, environmental and safety technology, and logistics.

You can also take on roles in technical marketing, in internal consulting, and strategic planning as well as a career as a specialist or manager.
