BASF wins “Best Catalyst Technology” for Fourtune™ at the 2020 HP Awards
- Hydrocarbon Processing Awards recognize the industry’s top innovations
- Fourtune™ is a new FCC catalyst optimized to deliver superior butylene over propylene selectivity
BASF was awarded “Best Catalyst Technology” at the 2020 Hydrocarbon Processing (HP) Awards for its Fourtune™ FCC catalyst. Fourtune is the latest product based on BASF’s Multiple Framework Topology (MFT) technology. It has been optimized to deliver superior butylene over propylene selectivity while maintaining catalyst activity and performance. The technology provides an answer to the increased demand for octane since today’s tighter sulfur regulations often require post treatment on the gasoline stream, which can negatively impact the octane pool.
More than 100 nominations were submitted from more than a dozen countries. Each abstract was voted on by an independent Hydrocarbon Processing advisory board. Honorees received awards in 15 categories. The winners were revealed in front of a global audience of midstream and downstream oil and gas industry professionals. The winning innovations are enabling refinery, petrochemical and gas processing/LNG operators to optimize their operations and increase safety, efficiency, profitability and sustainability.
“Winning the ‘Best Catalyst Technology’ award shows that we continue to develop and deliver innovative products that meet customer needs,” says Detlef Ruff, Senior Vice President Process Catalysts at BASF.
“We are proud to win this award. Our Fourtune catalyst has been developed in a short amount of time using our innovative MFT technology and addresses the key needs of Refiners by delivering more octane,” says Jim Chirumbole, Vice President Refinery Catalysts at BASF.
