Trading in ADRs

You can purchase or sell BASF ADRs like any other OTC traded ADRs via your broker.

Our depositary bank is BNY Mellon, who provides the following services for ADR holders:

  • Recording and maintaining the register of ADR holders
  • Acting as transfer agent
  • Distributing dividends in US dollars
  • Facilitating the proxy voting process and exercising the voting rights on behalf of ADR holders

For those holders who are not registered because their shares are held through a "Street name" (nominee account), your nominee will receive company documents from BNY Mellon to distribute to ADR holders. You need to make arrangements with your nominee if you wish to receive such documents and to be able to exercise your vote through the depositary bank at general meetings.

The exchange ratio between BASF ADRs to ordinary shares is 4:1, i.e. four BASF ADR represent one BASF ordinary share.
