Chemetall receives the Airbus SQIP 2025 award for its 2024 performance

  • Chemetall awarded for the tenth year in a row with SQIP award
  • High performance aerospace solutions delivered in quality, on time, and volume

The Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF Coatings, operating under the Chemetall brand, has again received the highest recognition of Airbus’ Supply Chain & Quality Improvement Program, known as the SQIP Award, for its outstanding high level of delivery performance and quality.

This year's award ceremony took place at the Airbus Headquarters in Toulouse, France, and honored the best suppliers for their performance in 2024. Airbus recognized the outstanding delivery efforts and performance of Chemetall, who has been a trusted and reliable partner for several years to the aerospace OEM. With the SQIP program, Airbus pursues the goal of leading its strategically important suppliers to top performance in terms of product quality and delivery performance.

Chemetall is a long-standing and certified player in the aerospace industry and supplies Airbus with Naftoseal® aircraft sealing compounds and Ardrox® corrosion protection solutions, among others, which meet the stringent requirements of the international aerospace industry.

“We are very proud to receive the prestigious Airbus SQIP accreditation, which is the highest recognition for suppliers for their quality performance for the tenth year in a row. It is a testament to our commitment to deliver innovative and high-performing solutions across the whole value chain of the aerospace industry, from manufacturers to maintenance, repair, and overhaul companies of aircraft and aircraft engines. I want to thank Airbus for their trust and close collaboration for many years and promise that you can always expect more from us,” says Frank Naber, Senior Vice President Global Surface Treatment at BASF Coatings.

During the ceremony in Toulouse, the award was received by Guillaume Larrieu, Global Key Account Manager Airbus at Chemetall, and Roland Wagner, SQIP Coordinator from the Global Quality Excellence Team Quality Manager at Chemetall.

"We are very pleased to have met the requirements of the Airbus SQIP program again. This is a great team effort by all aerospace colleagues in Quality, Production, Technical and Laboratory Support, Supply Chain, and Customer Service, who all contribute to delivering this high level of performance. We will continue to make every effort to ensure sustained excellence in delivery performance and quality for our customers and to work closely with Airbus to further improve our performance in the future,” says Guillaume Larrieu.

The aim of the Airbus SQIP Program is to advance major strategic Airbus suppliers toward the goal of industrial excellence regarding product quality and delivery reliability. This goal is particularly important as production rates increase. Every year, the performance of each supplier is reviewed and either confirmed or, in case of non-conformity with the quality standards, downgraded or even rejected.

Over many years, Chemetall and Airbus have established a successful business relationship. From production sites in Langelsheim, Germany, and Soissons, France, Chemetall supplies several Airbus sites and subcontractors around the world with Naftoseal aircraft sealants, Ardrox corrosion protection products, Ardrox cleaners, and pre-treatment technologies.
