Cosmet’Agora 2026: BASF celebrates uniqueness and self-expression in the cosmetics industry
- New formulation concept focuses on exceptional sensory experiences and cross-category developments
- The active ingredient Aloversil™ supports the appearance of denser and fuller-looking hair
- Dehyquart® S18, a readily biodegradable conditioning agent, combines high efficacy with improved environmental compatibility
Paris, France – January 8, 2026 – At this year’s Cosmet’Agora, held from January 13 to 14 in Paris, BASF’s Personal Care business is advancing its Beyond Beauty vision by celebrating uniqueness and self-expression in the cosmetics industry. The company will be launching a new formulation concept at the show, highlighting hybrid, cross-category solutions and unique sensory experiences that resonate with consumer demands. “Understanding how people live, behave, interact, and express themselves inspires new beauty trends and shapes innovative products and routines,” said Dr Valérie Pian-Parison, Senior Marketing Manager France. “Our new concept illustrates how cosmetic products can help the skin recover from environmental stresses, how beauty rituals can reconnect people with nature, and how textures influence our emotions and the perception of a product’s performance.” The concept features formulations for longevity skincare, care-infused haircare and bodywash, eco-conscious UV protection (assessed with BASF’s EcoSun® Pass technology), and healthy glow make-up. Supported by innovative technologies and responsible ingredient choices, these formulations combine effective and preventive solutions with extraordinary textures. BASF experts will be available for one-to-one discussions at booth 146-147-148 to talk about the new concept as well as latest product innovations.
AloversilTM: Natural Origin Peptide Solution for Fuller-Looking Hair
At the show, BASF will be introducing Aloversil™, a cosmetic ingredient with potent natural peptides designed to support the appearance of denser hair in men experiencing visible signs of shedding. The new ingredient helps maintain a healthy scalp environment, which is key for visibly stronger, fuller, and more resilient hair. In a randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled clinical study involving 60 men, daily application of a leave-in hair serum containing Aloversil for four months improved the look of hair coverage and density. These results were confirmed by instrumental assessments. In vitro studies show that Aloversil supports the body’s own cellular communication and natural micro-vascularization, both of which are associated with nourishing healthy hair follicles and improving the hair’s appearance. Aloversil is made from the seedcake of sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), a byproduct of juice and oil production, and is 100 percent natural origin according to ISO 16128.
Dehyquart® S18: Biodegradable Conditioning Agent for Smoother, Healthier Hair
With Dehyquart® S18 (INCI: Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine) BASF’s Personal Care business is introducing a new hair care ingredient to the European market. This cationic conditioning agent is intended for use in hair care formulations, especially conditioners, hair masks, and hair treatments. It is readily biodegradable (based on OECD standards) and has a renewable carbon content (RCC) of 78 percent. This makes it an effective, naturally derived alternative to persistent quaternary ammonium compounds (quats) that are traditionally used to achieve conditioning results in hair care products. It is also suitable for formulations with silicone alternatives, as well as for vegan and cruelty-free formulation concepts.Performance tests have shown that Dehyquart S18 enhances both wet and dry combability by forming a smooth film on the hair surface under acidic pH conditions. It also improves suppleness even at low dosages and provides reliable frizz protection in high humidity.
