Enzyme Products

Fuelzyme® alpha-amylase is a next generation enzyme for starch liquefaction in the production of fuel ethanol, as well as starch hydrolysis to produce other fuel and industrial-use alcohols.  Discovered from the depths of the ocean floor, Fuelzyme® alpha-amylase is a highly evolved, high performance, thermostable enzyme that is effective over an exceptionally wide temperature and pH range allowing ethanol producers greater operational flexibility.  Fuelzyme® alpha-amylase provides superior reduction in mash viscosity, at a much lower dose compared to competitor products. Developed and marketed by BASF this unique enzyme is designed to significantly improve the efficiency and economics of fuel ethanol production.

Deltazym® GA L-E5 glucoamylase is a saccharification enzyme obtained from a classical strain of Aspergillus niger.  It produces glucose from liquefied starch in the fuel ethanol production process.  Deltazym® GA L-E5 is an exo-1,4-alpha-D-glucosidase that hydrolyzes the 1,4-linkages in starch.  It also splits the 1,6-alpha-D-glucosidic linkages making it an effective enzyme for processing both amylopectin and amylose starches.  Deltazym® GA L-E5 also contains acidic alpha-amylase and lysophospholipase side activities that are present to enhance yield.  Deltazym® GA L-E5 has extremely low levels of transglucosidase limiting repolymerization of glucose units.

Deltazym® APS acid protease is produced by fermentation of a selected strain of Aspergillus niger. This product can be used in starch to fuel ethanol operations and works to hydrolyze proteins into amino acids under low pH conditions.  Key advantages include faster fermentation times, reduced urea or ammonia usage, reduced use of emulsion breakers, improved corn oil production, and increased ethanol yield.

Xylathin® xylanase is a highly active enzyme that rapidly degrades xylan to reduce viscosity in cereal-based mashes used in the production of fuel ethanol.  It contains endo-alpha-1,4-xylanase, an enzyme that hydrolyzes the xylan component in cereal grains. The thermal tolerance and broad pH range of Xylathin® xylanase enables use over a wide range of process conditions for the reduction of mash viscosity prior to and during liquefaction in the fuel ethanol production process.  Developed and marketed by BASF this unique enzyme is designed to significantly improve the efficiency and economics of fuel ethanol production.

Fueltase™ phytase is applied to fermentation in dry-grind ethanol plants in order to liberate free phosphorus from naturally occurring phytic acid found in grains. Phytic acid (or phytate in salt form) is an indigestible, organic form of phosphorus. The action of phytase releases a usable form of inorganic phosphorus which is beneficial for yeast metabolic processes.  Also, the reduction of phytic acid in the distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS) improves their digestibility. The organic phosphate found in phytic acid is unavailable to animals, but the inorganic phosphate that phytase releases can be easily absorbed.  In addition, liberating the starch bound to phytic acid can increase the availability of fermentable sugars, thus increasing ethanol yields.  Developed and marketed by BASF Enzymes LLC, this unique enzyme is designed to improve the overall efficiency of fuel ethanol production.

Chemicals

Lutropur® MSA is a high purity methanesulfonic acid.  Methanesulfonic acid is a strong and odorless organic acid with a unique property profile that distinguishes it from all other acids.  As a result of its non-oxidizing nature, the high solubility of its salts, its absence of color and odor, and the fact that it is readily biodegradable, Lutropur® MSA is a safer and more effective alternative to sulfamic acid for use in ethanol plants.

TM or ® signifies a trademark or registered trademark of BASF Enzymes LLC or BASF SE in several countries, except DELTAZYM which is a trademark of WeissBioTech GmbH.
