R-M, premium paint brand of BASF, enhance its measurement technology with the launch of the new COLORTRONIC 12/6 spectrophotometer. Twelve geometries ensure a perfect match rate for identifying the exact color. Simple operation and the transmission of data via WIFI to the workstation speed up work flows. The updated software Color Explorer and Shop Master enable measurement results to be adjusted even more accurately. For the launch in Europe, Berry KOOIJMAN, winner of the last International R-M Best Painter Contest from Netherlands, is selected to showcase the next generation color tool COLORTRONIC 12/6 in the media.
Even more precise measurement results
R-M's COLORTRONIC 12/6 spectrophotometer features a new hard and software along with a brand new measurement technology. Twelve geometries ensure even more accurate measurement results. A color camera recognizes the effect in metallic / pearl finishes based on six color photos. This makes it possible to adjust the colors more to the target. The large display permits the measurement target to be viewed reliably via video. Afterwards, the results can be transmitted via WIFI to the workstation.
A new function is the temperature warning, which appears when the vehicle has been sitting in the sun for too long, for instance. Because the impact of heat can distort the color, this feature will make measuring color more reliable than ever.
Quicker work flows
COLORTRONIC 12/6 also features streamlined operation and additional functions, as well as a large user-friendly touch screen. The measurement data can be easily transmitted to the workstation via WIFI connection, including over longer distances. This enables the spray painter to perform the color measurement as soon as the car is dropped off with the customer looking on. Conversely, jobs stored in the database can be uploaded to the spectrophotometer and processed there.
Newly invented algorithms for exact adjustment
At the workstation the updated software is used to compare the data captured by the COLORTRONIC 12/6 with the existing color database. The colors are displayed next to each other as colored bars. An index indicates the percent to which the mixing formula matches the measured color. The color can then be adjusted to match the measured color as precisely as possible. Newly invented algorithms help adjust the color to the target. In the expert view, the color can then be viewed in the form of spectral curves.
A service package just in case
The device's maintenance and reliability have also been improved. For example, a white calibration is automatically performed each time the device is switched on. A manual calibration needs to be performed only once a month. When the device is not in use it is stored in the base station safe and sound and its battery is now also recharged more quickly than before. If a device is damaged, it can be replaced very quickly through the service package.
