Shaping the Future: Green Energy – Endless Electricity? (grades 5 - 7)
Solar and wind energy are among the most important renewable sources of electricity in Germany. Unlike fossil fuels such as gas and coal, they produce electricity in a climate-neutral way. In this Kids' Lab workshop, pupils explore the function of solar and wind power plants, test different solar cells and rotor blades, and construct simple circuits with motors and light-emitting diodes. At the end of the workshop, the pupils receive an experimentation diploma with tips for further experiments at home.
Thursdays and Fridays, 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m.
Workshop duration: 90 minutes
Shaping the Future: Climate Protection Professions make it possible! (grades 8 - 10)
Renewable energies make a significant contribution on the way towards climate neutrality. They are particularly in demand in industries, where large amounts of electricity are needed to operate production facilities. More than ever, well-trained specialists are needed to build, operate, maintain and repair these plants in a way that conserves resources as much as possible. With our experimental program, we want to raise pupils' enthusiasm for technical work and make them curious to learn more. The program includes building a wind turbine, exploring electronic components and simple circuits and working on optimizing a solar power system. Finally, there will be plenty of tips to take home for career guidance.
Wednesdays, 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m.
Workshop duration: 90 minutes
Experimental Offers for Families with Children (6 - 12 years)
This offer provides children aged 6 - 12 accompanied by their parents or grandparents the opportunity to discover natural sciences and sustainability topics in a playful way. No registration is required in advance.
Shaping the Future: Discover Climate
What are the fascinating properties of carbon dioxide? Why do our oceans act as a climate buffer? Which wind turbine generates most electricity? How can an electric toothbrush be operated in a climate-neutral way? And how much muscle power does it take to make a light-emitting diode shine? Short experiments invite children to explore exciting research questions about the topic climate together with their parents or grandparents.
Open experiment offers for families with children from 6 - 12 years: Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. – No registration required! Admission for children is free of charge.
