  • Novel mode of action for effective & long duration protection in wide variety of crops
  • Expands the company’s presence in the insecticides market, delivering high-efficacy products that respond to farmers’ needs

Jakarta, Indonesia – May 3, 2023 – BASF Indonesia celebrates the launch of the new insecticide Cimegra®, together with 500 key Indonesian farmers at the Golden Boutique Hotel, Kemayoran. These farmers are the first who have trialed Cimegra® in this growing season.

BASF Cimegra® insecticide is powered by a new active ingredient, Broflanilide®,, formulated with BASF technology.

With its unique mode of action, BASF’s Cimegra® insecticide is among the first compound in the market introduced under the new IRAC group 30, which represents a new class of insecticides (Group 30—meta-diamides and isoxazolines) which has no known cross-resistance with existing products in the market, making it a superior insecticide resistance management tool.

Cimegra® offers farmers a powerful solution for controlling critical insect pests such as Thrips, Spodoptera, and Plutella, and when used as part of integrated pest management program, it also helps combat resistance. Cimegra® is registered for use on Shallot, Corn, Tomato, Cabbage, Soybean, and select crops in Indonesia

“Farmers in Indonesia will now benefit from our latest innovation that helps them achieve better yields,” said Christofer Arisandy, President Director of BASF Indonesia. “Farming is the biggest job on earth as farmers balance the needs of putting food on our tables, whilst taking into account their livelihoods, practicing good environmental stewardship, and coping with today’s unpredictable weather conditions, pests, and diseases that could destroy their hard work of growing crops. At BASF, we are dedicated to listening and working alongside farmers to understand their needs, so that we apply our expertise to help them face this enormous challenge successfully.”

A valuable aspect of Cimegra® is its ability to be effective on the toughest resistant insects by attacking insects’ nerves system, resulting in quick knockdown. Supported by its fast spreading ability, Cimegra® performs excellent for control of multiple insects in different crops at various stages.

“This innovation reaffirms BASF’s commitment to help farmers across boundaries to treat a variety of pests with the lowest use rates compared to current standards. We have launched Cimegra® in China and India and have witnessed great success stories of farmers benefiting from it. I am excited to launch Cimegra® in Indonesia as it helps  farmers by providing effective and long duration protection against tough insect pests across a wide variety of crops”, said Ajay Chandola, Head of Agricultural Solutions Indonesia, BASF Indonesia.

“The launch of Cimegra® in Indonesia supports our commitment to helping Indonesia’s agriculture maximize its potential and support national food security. The access to the most advanced Ag innovation solutions, such as Cimegra® will help farmers achieve better yields – yields produced in ways that are valued by society, are kind to the planet, and help farmers earn a living. “
