BASF in Singapore relocates to new office reflecting its “Future of work” approach

  • Sustainable and future-oriented office design for better energy and resource management
  • Activity-based workplace to empower employees and enhance co-creation with customers and business partners

Singapore – February 21, 2023 – BASF globally introduced the ‘Future of Work’ approach, an enabling framework for collaborative and flexible working, in 2020. In line with this, BASF South East Asia Pte. Ltd. has relocated its head office in Singapore to Guoco Midtown. The office space incorporates sustainable solutions in its features and design elements contributing to better energy and resource management. To facilitate open communication and new ways of working, the new space provides an activity-based environment, in which employees have the flexibility and ownership to decide on a workspace based on their requirements.

Sustainable solutions used in the office include sound absorption panels made from BASF’s melamine resin foam Basotect®, non-phthalate plasticizer Hexamoll® DINCH for flooring and low volatile organic compounds (VOC) paints with BASF’s Acronal® dispersion. Additionally, systems like motion sensor lighting and scheduled air conditioning have been deployed for better energy and resource management. To enable a healthy and safe work environment for employees, the workspace tracks indoor air quality as well as noise levels and offers furniture with human centric and ergonomic designs.

“I am pleased to see that our new office space in Singapore is a great combination of future-oriented designs as well as sustainable solutions. We have deployed key systems and solutions towards energy and resource efficiency, many of which are BASF products. Providing a healthy and conducive work environment for our employees is important to us, and the new workplace is a reflection of this,” said Carola Richter, President, Asia-Pacific (excluding Greater China).

The activity-based workspace is designed to facilitate opportunities for co-creation, spontaneous interactions, and better collaboration. “Our new office has been jointly created with inputs from our employees, to be in line with what is desirable at the workplace. According to our employee survey, while colleagues appreciate the flexible work arrangement, they also look forward to more collaboration and networking opportunities,” explains Vimala Arumugam, Managing Director of BASF South East Asia Pte. Ltd. “There are various collaboration spaces available now in our new office space, where we can continue to co-create with our customers and business partners.”
