Nmai receives Civil Engineering Alumni Achievement Award from Purdue University
CLEVELAND, OH, May 1, 2012 -- The Admixture Systems business of BASF’s Construction Chemicals division announced that Dr. Charles Nmai, Ph.D., PE, FACI was recently honored with the Civil Engineering Alumni Achievement award by the faculty of the Purdue University School of Civil Engineering.
The prestigious award is presented to select graduates who have had outstanding career achievements and have made major contributions to the civil engineering profession.
Nmai received his award on April 12, 2012 at a dinner ceremony and a day of celebration at Purdue University among faculty, students, and his family.
He received his Ph.D. in civil engineering from Purdue University in 1987. Since then he has been employed by BASF Construction Chemicals, where he currently serves as engineering manager responsible for providing technical leadership and strategic guidance in the marketing of admixtures and high-performance concrete technologies.
“This award acknowledges the immense amount of time and energy that Charles has committed to advancing the civil engineering industry,” said Gabriel Cottrell, BASF Admixture Systems business manager. “We are extremely proud that he is being recognized by such a prestigious institution for the invaluable role he has played in the development and acceptance of high performance concrete technologies. Time and again, his knowledge and expertise has helped our customers succeed on even the most challenging construction projects.”
In addition to his work at BASF, Nmai is very active in industry associations. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), an honorary member of ASTM Committee C09 and currently chairs subcommittee C09.23 on Chemical Admixtures. In 2009, he was honored at the Ninth ACI International Conference on Superplasticizers and Other Chemical Admixtures for outstanding and sustained contributions in this field.
